Emma -  Instructor

I started pole at 19 when I lost someone I loved, nothing in life made sense and I needed an escape. I remember being really nervous about my first class, so much so my cousin and I argued all the way there who’d ask the receptionist where the studio was. The studio was full of different ages, shapes and sizes so although I was self-conscious and really not ready to take my leggings off, I relaxed and enjoyed myself because I realized no two students were the same. I didn’t need to fit in a special box to pole. I received so much encouragement and support from everyone that I soon forgot about feeling embarrassed and just had fun.

Just one class was enough for me to fall in love with pole and I’ve been training ever since. For me there’s nothing quite like it, I don’t get the same satisfaction from any other form of exercise. The gym just doesn’t do it for me, I don’t enjoy staring at a timer or a calorie counter wishing I’d already reached my goal. With pole I can spend an hour lifting my entire body weight off the floor and its over before I’ve had chance to even glance at the clock. I enjoy pole so much because there are so many different elements to it, there is literally something for everyone.

I became an instructor because I wanted to share the confidence I’d gained since starting pole, I wanted to create a safe environment for people to get fit and have fun. I enjoy motivating my students to achieve their goals but I like that not everyone has to achieve the same thing to have accomplished something amazing. I love that everyone is different and capable of so much more than they thought possible.

Outside of pole I’m a carer for my mum and a mum of two boys who are already mad about pole. In fact they are the absolute definition of Pole Hogs. On top of that I’m also a hairdresser so life is busy but never boring. I hope that by reading this you will be encouraged to give it a go, after all if you don’t like it you never have to do it again…
